Samson provided architectural and civil engineering services, while KGS Group delivered the mechanical and electrical services for a mixed-use affordable housing facility. The development includes a range of housing options designed to address varying community needs. The ground floor features accessible, barrier-free suites, ensuring inclusivity for individuals with mobility challenges. The second floor offers affordable two-bedroom units for families or individuals seeking long-term housing. The third floor is dedicated to transitional housing for homeless youth and includes a shared common space to foster social connection and community building. Energy efficiency was a key consideration in the design, with the buildings developed in accordance with Passive House principles to reduce energy consumption and enhance occupant comfort. Strategies integrated into the design include highly insulated walls, roofs, and floors; a continuous air-tight building envelope; and the minimization of thermal bridging throughout the structure. These measures contribute to long-term operational savings and support environmental sustainability.
